I must say, though, for a "security" company it is a terrible idea to use a lookalike domain (nordvpn vs nordcdn) to host their software. They should've gone with cdn.nordvpn.com or something similar instead of making users suspicious of phishing attacks or being served malware.

When connected to the NordVPN app, presumably it has changed the client's DNS server to its own, so you lose local name resolution w/ DNSMasq on the router. It's still accessible by IP because then you're NOT relying on DNS to reach the NAS.
It appears to be related to Norton 360 (according to NordVPN). (Nord VPN is working on the problem but i'd like to know why the problem arises) When i go back to the version before the update (uninstall new and reinstall old version) everything is working. So I went to my primary desktop and went to nordvpn.com to find and download the windows app installer there. Strangely that app installer behaved the same way.
I've just managed to setup nordvpn servers for the Merlin built in wireguardvpn but noticed I am unable to access Google.com. Other sites seem fine. Reading around it seems like it could be an mtu issue but not sure how I can change or set that up. Has anyone else had this issue! Thanks
When the NordVPN was disconnected, the internet was on and there were no problems. Given that Norton VPN isn't enabled by reading that statement, NordVPN is the issue.
